The Deckel Dividing head does not have any change gears. The spiral milling accessory does...but as i recall it uses gears with a face dog arrangement with three teeth on the face of the gear hub. Those gears look more like the ones used with a Cincinnati dividing head for the helical setup...

Always a bad thing. No I don't need one, got two perfectly functional mills at home, but I want a Deckel or the like at home to play with. Now seriously considering options and checkbook's getting frightened. Need to ask the group, D + Sean especially, how rigid is a FP1 or FP2 compared with say a standard B-port like turret mill.

The FP1 I bought has a HS vertical head and no collets. It appears to have an adapter for collets in the horizontal spindle, however. Mounting a DRO on an FP1 is a bit tricky, as I recall (I now have an FP2). I believe you will find photos if you search on the site, though. The problem with the FP1 is that it doesn't have as many slots on the vertical table as the larger FPs. As such, the bottom slot, which is where many/most mount the X DRO, is used by the vertical table.

The bad thing about an FP1 is that the tooling can be used on the bigger Deckels, so an upgrade path is available without having to purchase more tooling. Quite a few people start with an FP1 and then get a larger Deckel. An FP2 is just a tad bigger than an FP1, but has a few more functions. An FP3 is just a tad bigger than an FP2.
